First Watch Trifecta - Legend's Pick

First Watch Daytime Cafe is a breakfast restaurant located in Greenbriar Shopping Center of Fairfax. They offer a variety of breakfast and lunch options. It is one of the few places in Fairfax where you can get breakfast. I went down to First Watch and struck gold with my first order, a new Legend's Pick, the Tri-fecta breakfast.

Dogfish Bacon Wrapped Fried Oreos

If you follow Dogfish Head Alehouse (Fairfax) on Facebook then you've probably seen them constantly posting pictures on one of their new dessert items available on their specials menu. Yes...that is right...those are fried oreos wrapped in bacon and they are available at Dogfish Head Alehouse for dessert. I immediately left my computer and sped down to DFA to check them out.

That is because on Wednesdays, the grocery store offers a very popular raw oyster happy hour featuring great specials on raw oysters, steamed shrimp and really cheap cans of craft beer. And the best part is, no tipping allowed at Whole Foods.

Exploring Happy Hour: Red Zone Grill & Seafood (Fairfax - Old Town)

Happy Hour @ Red Zone Monday - Friday | 4:00pm - 8:00pm $2 Off All Drinks

Welcome to Happy Hour at Red Zone Grill & Seafood. This bar in the lobby of a high rise office building has been under several different ownerships over the years and the new iteration, Red Zone, is going strong. It is sort of a combo of night club / pool hall / bar but they have a happy hour (although the bartender didn't explain it despite asking a bunch of times for specifics) and I went down there to check it out.

Exploring Happy Hour: Greene Turtle (Fairfax - Old Town)

Happy Hour @ Greene Turtle Monday - Friday | 3:00pm - 7:00pm $3 Domestics / Rails - $4 Margaritas / House Wine - $5 Craft Drafts - $3, $5, $7 Apps

Welcome to happy hour at the Greene Turtle. The restaurant has a weekday happy hour with specials on domestic beer, craft beer, rail drinks, margaritas and 3 different tiers of appetizer specials. They also have a few other specials depending on the day you are there. I went down to the Turtle to check out their weekday happy hour.

Legend's Pick: Beef Kra Pow @ Similians Thai Eatery

I know nothing about Thai food. I've been to thai restaurants for dates, because they always have good date ambiance, and for work lunches because my boss makes sure we go somewhere that has foods nobody has ever heard of. Every time I've ever gone to a thai spot I've ordered the mussels. That is the only thing I could order where I knew what I was getting.

Well I decided to be bold, and after staring at the menu at Similians Thai Eatery for 10 minutes (with the waiter coming back every 2 to see if I was ready) and google imaging about 20 items, I decided to step up and order something, the Beef Kra Pow, which the menu described as "one of the most famous thai dishes". If all else failed I knew there would be meat in the dish and I could salvage something out of it.

Well the food came out and Ding! Ding! Ding! I hit the jackpot. I now have a goto dish next time I find myself at a thai place.

Legend's Pick: Buffalo Chicken Pizza @ Buffalo Wing Factory

As a guy who is ALWAYS barbecue over buffalo when it comes to chicken, I wasn't expecting much when I decided to order the buffalo wing pizza from Buffalo Wing Factory. Despite realizing how much I love the buffalo sauce at BWF last week, I came into the whole thing skeptical. But what I found out after eating the pizza ended up shocking me quite a bit.

Happy Hour @ Applebees Monday - Friday | 3:00pm - 7:00pm $3.50 Domestics - $4.50 16oz Premiums - $4 Rails/LITs/Wine/Margs - $3 Fireball - $3 Snacks

Welcome to happy hour at Applebees. I'm sure you've been to Applebee's before and you get the idea. However I've found that different restaurants have different specials, so I went down to the Applebees in Fair Lakes to find out what exactly their happy hour consisted of.

Exploring Happy Hour: Red Robin (Fairfax - Fair Lakes)

Happy Hour @ Red Robin Every Day | All Day $3.50 16oz Domestics - $4.50 22oz Domestics, House Wine, Rails - $5.50 Sangria, Margaritas

Welcome to Happy Hour at Red Robin! Wait one minute here. All day, every day. That looks to me like something called "everyday prices". That means that there IS NO HAPPY HOUR! Red Robin pretends their not so amazing drink prices are "specials" which is just baloney. But to be fair, this is Red Robin, this isn't a bar, so whatever. I went down to Red Robin at a typical happy hour time and checked out this disappointing "happy hour".

Lunch In Fairfax: Stone Hot Pizza Lunch Special

Stone Hot Pizza is a brick oven pizza place located in the Pender Shopping Center (next to Harris Teeter). Every day they offer a one topping pizza lunch special for just 6 bucks.
